Description
This is an unidentified chest tomb located about 9 meters south of the tower of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Westbury-on-Severn. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and is made of stone. The tomb features a weathered lid with a moulded edge and has elongated quarter rectangular balusters at the corners. The sides are raised with a vertical oval shape that includes oval paterae in the corners, while the ends are a compressed version of the sides. The inscriptions on the tomb have weathered away, but it is likely a Wintle tomb, forming the southernmost of a group of five listed Wintle monuments.
