Description

The Plough Inn is an inn dating from the 17th century and 18th to 19th centuries. It is constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble with a stone slate roof on the main body and a red tile roof on the rear range. There is a brick stack. The building has a 'T'-shaped plan with two lean-to extensions on the entrance front, one of which is from the 20th century. The main body is a single storey with an attic, featuring a two-light dormer above the front door. The upper floor of the gable end facing the road is lit by a two-light, double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement, while the ground floor has a single light casement with a horizontal glazing bar. There is also a two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement towards the left gable end of the entrance front. The 20th-century lean-to is lit by a four-light wooden casement with glazing bars, and the right-hand lean-to has a two-light wooden casement with glazing bars, with the front left-hand corner featuring circular columns. A four-panel door from the 20th century is located between the lean-tos, and there is a 20th-century glazed door with glazing bars leading to the 18th to 19th-century range at the rear left, which has two 20th-century top-opening casements to the left of the door. Inside, there is a spine beam.
