Description
This is a monument with railings dedicated to Warren Hastings, located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Peter, approximately 1 metre east of the east end of the chancel. The monument commemorates Warren Hastings, who died in 1818. It is made of coadestone and features a square plinth with inset corners. There is a projecting band adorned with Vitruvian scroll decoration in relief around the upper margin. At the top, a large urn is placed, which has a raised plaque on the south side inscribed with "WARREN HASTINGS." The urn is also decorated with a band of foliate relief around its top. The monument is surrounded by cast iron railings and is noted as an unusually fine example of coadestone use.
