Description
This dovecote, located approximately 50 meters north of Coln Manor, dates from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof. The building has a square shape with parapet gables on each side. Each gable includes a loft-level, two-light recessed cavetto mullioned opening with a hoodmould. There is a continuous upper floor level string course. On the east side, there is a doorway with a timber lintel and a four-panel door. At the center of the dovecote, there is a square lantern topped with a pyramidal roof and a ball finial. Inside, the walls are lined with numerous pigeon holes and anti-rat string courses, and there is a single tie beam. The dovecote occupies an important position on the northern approach to the village.
