Description

The monument to Reverend Samuel Warneford is located in the churchyard about 10 metres west of the north aisle of the Church of St. Lawrence in Bourton-on-the-Hill. This chest tomb, dating from the 19th century, commemorates Reverend Warneford, a philanthropist and rector of the parish who died in 1855. It is made of Forest of Dean sandstone and is designed in the form of a sarcophagus, surrounded by iron railings with urn finials at each corner.
