Description
15 The Street is a house and shop, largely dating to the early 19th century, though it likely incorporates elements of a 17th or 18th century building. The construction is of random rubble limestone, with brick and artificial stone chimneys and a stone slate roof. It is a two-storey building with parallel rear outbuildings. The front facade has a three-window arrangement. On the right, there are two shop windows with timber lintels, and a ground-floor window with an iron casement, alternating with doorways also having timber lintels and rectangular lights above the doors. The upper floor features four-pane sash windows. There are two chimneys on the ridge of the roof. The north end of the building shows signs in the masonry of an earlier, steeper roof pitch. The south end has a single upper-floor window with a timber lintel and a flat-roofed shop addition connected to the rear outbuildings. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding area.
