Description
26 Gloucester Street is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone and features a stone slate roof, along with a stone and brick stack at the right end and a rear axial stack. The building has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with a three-window range.
On the first floor, there are three 2-light 20th-century timber casements set in chamfered stone surrounds. The ground floor has two 19th-century 2/4-pane sash windows in similar surrounds. The central entrance features a 6-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed, framed by a 19th-century timber architrave that includes a frieze and cornice. The facade has a shallow plinth and quoins on the right side of the first floor, and shows signs of alteration, including two blocked openings.
The interior has been significantly altered in the 20th century, but still retains chamfered beams on the ground floor.
