Description

Two houses, located at numbers 20 and 22 Gloucester Street, were built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of roughly-coursed limestone rubble, with a plastered front facade. The roof is covered in stone slate, featuring a brick ridge stack and a brick stack at the right-hand end, which may be shared with the adjacent property at number 18 Gloucester Street.

The houses have a three-storey, two-window facade. The first floor contains an 8/12-pane sash window to the left (number 22) and a 6/6-pane sash window to the right (number 20), both set within flat beaded surrounds. The second floor has an 8/8-pane sash window (number 22) and a 3/6-pane sash window (number 20), similarly surrounded. The ground floor features an 8/12-pane sash window (number 22) and a 6/6-pane sash window (number 20), both with stone sills and matching surrounds. A 19th-century plank door with a decorative overlight is located in a matching surround to the right (number 20). Access to the rear of number 22 is via a side passage with a similarly styled surround. A shallow plinth is present, and cill bands are located at both the first and second floor levels. The interiors have not been inspected.
