Description
Sam Keyte's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with an 18th-century extension. The main structure is built of coursed squared limestone, while the roof facing the road is covered with artificial stone slate, and the opposite side has limestone slate. The roof features flat coping with a roll-cross saddle on the right. There is a rectangular ashlar gable end stack with a moulded top and skirting on the left gable end, and another stack is located off centre on the right. The 18th-century extension is made of squared limestone and red brick, with a gable end that includes continuous stepped limestone kneelers and an artificial stone roof.
The farmhouse has a three-room layout, one room deep, with the 18th-century extension added to the gable end. The rear facade has three windows, featuring one and two-light flat chamfered stone-mullioned windows with metal casements, leaded lights, and safety bars. There is also a single light fire window in the rear wall. Access to the house is from the rear through an unpainted plank door that has ornate original strap hinges, a knocker, and a keyhole surround. Inside, the floors are flagged.
