Description

Manor Farm Cottage and Maxted's Cottage are a semi-detached house and a former stable that has been converted into a cottage. No 7 (Manor Farm Cottage) and No 7a (Maxted's Cottage) date from the late 17th century to early 18th century, while No 6 Cottage is from the 18th century.

No 7 and 7a are constructed from ashlar stone with an artificial stone roof and flat coping at the gable ends. They feature two sets of twin diagonal ashlar stacks located one third of the way along the ridge. No 6 is built from coursed limestone rubble and has weatherboarding around the dormer windows, topped with a thatched roof and two brick stacks.

Both No 7 and 7a are two storeys high with an attic, which is lit by stone-mullioned garret windows and a single 20th-century dormer window. No 6 is a single-storey building with two dormers under thatched hoods, featuring three-light 20th-century windows with glazing bars in the attic. No 7 has a partially glazed 20th-century plank door set in a four-centred arched surround with a moulded frame. No 7a has three windows on the first floor, all of which are three-light, flat chamfered stone-mullioned windows with stopped hoods. The ground floor of No 7a includes four-light stone-mullioned windows with king mullions flanking a central, partially glazed 20th-century door with a flat moulded hood supported on corbels. There is also a small 20th-century four-pane casement and a plank door to a store under the thatched roof on the right. A central, 20th-century partially glazed door has been inserted in what was a former double doorway. This property is managed by the National Trust.
