Description

Wayside Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located in Kempsford. It is a detached single-range building with a small rear extension, originally built as a single storey and attic structure. The cottage is constructed of coursed rubble stone with a stone slate roof and stone stacks. There are three small dormers in the eaves, each containing a two-light wooden casement window; two are original, and the central one is a later addition. On the ground floor, there is a three-light window to the left with a flat stone arch, and a two-light window to the right with a timber lintel. Both ground floor windows now contain UPVC casements and fixed lights. A central boarded door, set within a chamfered wooden surround and topped with a flat stone arch, is sheltered by a gabled porch hood supported on wooden struts.
