Description
The Cox memorial is a chest tomb located about 11 meters southwest of the northwest gate in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary. It commemorates Samuel Cox, who died in 1731. The tomb is made of limestone and features a flat top with a moulded plinth at the base and a moulded capping. The ends of the tomb are designed with heavy lyre shapes that have acanthus returns and oval cartouche panels. The long sides of the tomb include square inscription panels, although the inscription on the southern side has been obliterated. Flanking the inscription panels are relief designs of lyre ends on the south side and hanging drapery on the north side.
