Description

The Estate Office at Sherborne House is a former stable block that has been converted into an estate office. It dates from the late 16th century and was rebuilt in the 17th to early 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof and features ashlar stacks. The main body has a rectangular plan, while a 20th-century flat-roofed garage at the left gable end is not of special interest.

The south front is two stories high and was originally a symmetrical facade with a 2:1:1:2 window arrangement, featuring a round-headed archway at the center. The windows in the far right-hand bay are now blocked. To the right of the archway, there is a large fixed 12-pane window on the ground floor. The first floor has two-light casements within double-chamfered surrounds in the far left, and single two-light casements with glazing bars on either side of the archway at the same level. The ground floor also has two similar casements, one of which has a concrete lintel. A plank door is located far left. There is a band between the floors, and the central archway is now blocked with a fixed casement and a part-glazed doorway below, along with double doors and pigeon holes in timber cladding above.

The left gable end features two blocked two-light stone-mullioned casements with carved spandrels and four-centred arched heads, along with a band above. The rear wall has a blocked doorway and ventilation slits. The building has gable-end and axial ashlar stacks, with flat coping at the left gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
