Description
The former stable entrance to Barton Abbotts, located about 8 meters east of East Barton, dates from the mid-18th century. It features tooled dressed stone up to the impost band, with ashlar above and a coped top. The entrance has a wide basket arch made of tooled voussoirs, a smooth enlarged keystone, and an impost band. The double boarded doors have straight heads, and the top of the arch is fitted with fixed boards, all of which were restored in the 20th century. This entrance now serves as the entrance to a private courtyard formed by the conversion of the former stable buildings.
