Description
East Barton is a building that was originally part of the stable and carriage wing of Barton Abbotts and is now a private house. It was constructed in several stages, with a late 17th century range on the left that connects to an early 18th century range on the right. The building is made of rubble stone and features a Cotswold stone slate roof with two stone stacks. It has a two-gable range with a linking rear cross wing, set back from the road line, and includes a 20th century single-storey infill in front. The left and rear ranges have mansard roofs, with an uneven rear roof line, and the right-hand gable has a finial. The structure has two storeys and an attic, with a parapet wall at the rear. The fenestration is scattered, mostly consisting of 12-pane sashes. The rear of the left-hand mansard wing retains remnants of a carriage arch, which is now partially blocked.
