Description

The Sherred Monument is a chest tomb located about 4 meters south of the east end of the chancel in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary. It commemorates the Sherred family, with the earliest readable inscription dating back to 1844. The tomb is made of limestone and features a moulded plinth and capping on its base. It has a single step tent top and incised end panels, while the fielded side panels are accented with flanking strips that break up towards the southeast. At the time of the survey in August 1985, the monument was leaning to the north.
