Description

Westside Cottage is a semi-detached cottage that was originally likely one large house built in the late 17th century to early 18th century. It was extended to the west in the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building is constructed of rubble stone with a stone slate roof and features concrete ridge stacks. The overall shape is 'Z'-shaped, with a projecting wing at the rear of Westside Cottage and a projecting front gable at No 8. The cottage has two storeys, and the roof of Westside Cottage steps up to indicate the junction between the original and the later addition.

On the upper floor, there are two small paired casements positioned below the eaves, with a larger casement to the left in the later section. The ground floor features a recessed door in the later section that has a hipped porch hood. To the right of the door is a 2-light wood mullion window with a transom and glazing bars, which is set in a former wider opening. No 8 has a series of scattered 2-light small casements with timber lintels and a small newel light to the left of the stack. The entrance is located at the angle with the projecting gable end to the right, which has a 20th-century raking porch.
