Description
The John Mitchell monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St Peter, approximately 3 metres south of the south-west corner of the nave. It commemorates John Mitchell and his wife Mary, who died in 1717 and 1714, respectively. The south side features a further inscription that is obscured by foliage. The tomb has a moulded plinth and an inscription to John and Mary Mitchell on the north side, set within a rectangular panel with a moulded margin. It includes moulded quarter balusters at the corners and a winged angel's head at the east end. The tomb is capped with a moulded margin and a segmental upper capping.
