Description

This building is an outbuilding, formerly partly a bakehouse, located immediately north-west of Church Farmhouse in Little Barrington Village. It dates from the late 18th century and is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a roof of stone slate and artificial stone slate. The building has an 'L'-shaped plan.

On the south side, there is a 20th-century glazed door with glazing bars, a 20th-century stable door, and a plank door set within the blocking of a low double-width doorway. Additionally, there is a 20th-century two-light metal casement window and a 20th-century six-pane top-opening casement. The bakehouse projects forward on the right and features a 20th-century three-light steel casement with glazing bars and a concrete lintel, along with a four-pane casement. A large projecting semi-circular bread oven is located in the gable end. There is a part-glazed 20th-century plank door to the right-hand return of the bakehouse, flanked by a two-light and a single-light wooden casement, with another plank door to the right. All openings have segmental heads.

On the north wall of the barn, there is a large double-width opening with a timber lintel, located off-centre to the left. To the right, there is a stable door and a 20th-century glazed door with glazing bars. A shuttered window is positioned to the left of the double-width opening, and there is a plank door at the centre of the east gable end, along with a ventilation slit towards the apex of the same gable. The interior features walls inserted inside either side of the double-width entrance, but the rest of the interior has not been inspected.
