Description

Willow Cottage is an 18th-century cottage located at the end of a row in Little Barrington village. It was originally listed as one of three cottages to the south of Sundial Cottages, although its status has since been altered. The cottage is constructed of coursed squared and finely dressed limestone, with a stone slate roof. The roof originally had ashlar stacks, but these have been replaced with stacks made of coursed squared and dressed limestone and brick. The building has a rectangular footprint with a later 18th–early 19th century extension projecting at right angles to the rear. It is two storeys high with an attic, lit by a single 2-light dormer window featuring leaded panes. The windows are stone-mullioned casements, mainly with leaded panes, although one 20th-century casement without glazing bars has been inserted into the former door surround in the right gable end. This surround retains a keystone. Other windows include single-light and 2-light casements with horizontal glazing bars. A 19th-century plank door is sheltered by a flat stone canopy (likely 19th-century) supported by brackets, leading to the rear extension. The cottage has gable-end stacks with skirtings. The interior has not been inspected.
