Description
Hillside is a house located in Little Barrington Village, dating from the early to mid-18th century, with later extensions. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone and features a stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. The building has a rectangular plan with a small extension on the right gable end. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and includes a single-storey, single-bay extension to the right.
The facade is symmetrical with two windows, all of which are 3-light stone-mullioned casements that have horizontal glazing bars. The central entrance consists of an early studded plank door set within a flat-chamfered surround, topped by a flat stone canopy supported on moulded brackets. The gable ends have single-light casements with flat-chamfered surrounds that provide light to the attic. The extension to the right features a fixed 2-light wooden casement. The gable ends are finished with flat coping, and there are gable-end stacks with moulded cappings and skirtings. The interior has not been inspected.
