Description

No. 13 is a detached estate house located in Adlestrop, built around 1890 for Charles Baring Young. The house is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone and sandstone, topped with a stone slate roof. It has a rectangular plan and is oriented with its facade at right angles to the road. The building is one and a half storeys high, with a gable that slightly projects forward on the left side. The upper floor features a two-light metal casement window with a stopped hood, similar to the window on the ground floor. Some of the casement windows have patterned glazing, while others have been replaced with 20th-century plate glass. To the right of the gable end, there is a 19th-century plank door with strap hinges, which is sheltered by a slightly curved stone canopy supported on stone brackets. The gable-end coping is slightly stepped, and there is an axial, cross-shaped composite stack. The interior has not been inspected.
