Description

The stone balustrading, wall, gate, and granary located approximately 10 meters south of Westcote Manor date from the 18th century, with the wall being from the mid-20th century. The balustrading is 18th century and runs parallel to the garden front of the 18th-century range, connecting to a three-sided walled garden where the granary is situated at the west corner. The balustrading features low pedestals adorned with lead urns. The wall stands about 2 meters high and is interrupted by two gates. One gate showcases finely executed floral wrought ironwork within a round-headed archway, while the other has plain scrollwork. The granary, which is 1½ storeys and partially rebuilt in the 20th century, has a wide plank door and a fixed 9-pane casement on the side facing away from the house. Access to the loft is through a plank door in one gable end, and there is a blocked pitching window in the opposite gable end, which faces the garden and has pigeon holes inserted in the blocking. The balustrading was brought from Bowood, Wiltshire, in the 20th century, and the gates were originally located in Compton's Brow, Horsham, where the house has since been demolished.
