Description

St Michael's House is a large townhouse dating from the mid-18th century. Located on the east side of The Chipping in Tetbury, it is constructed of rubble stone, rendered on the front elevation, with a roof of Cotswold stone slate, featuring a cornice and blocking course, and stone gable stacks. The building comprises a main front range and a smaller, parallel rear range. The front facade has three storeys and three windows, each with 12-pane sashes set within moulded cement architraves. The second floor mirrors this arrangement with three 9-pane sashes. The ground floor features two similar sashes flanking a central entrance door, which is sheltered by a flat wooden hood supported by elaborately carved brackets and plain wooden posts. The entrance door itself is a six-panel design, with the top two panels glazed.
