Description
The stable block, located approximately 10 meters east of The Lower House, dates from the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared dressed limestone and features a stone slate roof. The building consists of two rectangular blocks that are linked at one corner, creating an 'L'-shaped plan. Both blocks are used for stabling and have lofts above. Access to the lofts is provided by stone steps leading up to early plank doors with strap hinges located in the gable ends of each block. The right-hand block has two double-width openings with concrete lintels, with stable doors set back within both openings. There is also a narrow plank door on the left side. A shuttered window with ironwork trellis is located at the center of the first floor. The left-hand block has two stable doors on the ground floor and a single top-opening six-pane window between the doorways, with a similar window on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
