Description

A row of four estate cottages dating from the mid-19th century. They are constructed of ashlar with concrete tile and slate roofs, and have ashlar stacks. The cottages have a rectangular plan and a symmetrical two-storey facade. A Rogers family heraldic shield is positioned centrally on the first floor. Two gables project slightly forward from the facade on the left and right sides. The windows are stone-mullioned casements, with single, two, and three lights, and stopped hoods. Blind single lights are set towards the apex of each forward-facing gable. Each gable has two 19th-century flush panel doors, each with a porthole window and a stopped hood. There are single projecting diagonal stacks at each gable end, and a central axial stack. The stonework on the facade is unusually fine. The roadside elevation appears as originally built. Rear lean-to additions from the 20th century are not considered to be of particular interest. The interior has not been inspected.
