Description
Pear Tree Cottage is a cottage that forms the left half of a pair, dating from the late 17th century to the mid-18th century, with a later extension. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof featuring restored ashlar stacks from the 20th century, one of which is rendered. The main body has a rectangular plan and is two storeys tall, with a single-storey extension at the left gable end.
The facade of the main body has two windows. On the first floor, there are two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements, while the ground floor features two 19th-century two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. The central entrance is a 19th-century plank door with decorative strap hinges, set within a reused 14th-century pointed-arched surround that has a moulded upper half and a stopped hood. The single-storey extension to the left has 20th-century double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. The gable ends have flat coping, and the extension has a roll-cross saddle. There are stacks at the gable ends of the main body. The interior has not been inspected.
