Description
The Old School House is a detached house that was originally a school house, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of random coursed rubble stone and features a stone slate roof with brick stacks at either end. The building has a single range of two storeys, along with an additional side range that was the former school room, which is a single storey with an attic and has a lean-to extending across the entire rear.
On the left-hand side, there is a large triple sash window with a timber lintel, and inside, there is an original gallery from the school room. The right-hand side has two windows: paired eight-pane casements on the first floor and 16-pane sashes on the ground floor, all with timber lintels. The door on the left is topped with a semi-circular brick arch and stone keystone, featuring a vertical battened door and a semi-circular fanlight. There is also a plank door on the left-hand return. At the rear, there is one gabled dormer and two very small single lights located below the eaves.
