Description

This is a late 19th-century water mill situated on the River Thames, located at Lower Mill Farm. The mill was in operation until 1947. Constructed primarily of red brick, the west wall is rendered, and the roof is covered with renewed slate. The building consists of a single range, two storeys high with an attic. A brick dentil course runs along the eaves. There are four openings: three casement windows and a door, positioned from the second bay on the left. The ground floor features a door and two windows, and a wider opening is located on the far right, revealing the mill wheel and race behind. Stable doors are present on both the ground and first floors. A blocked gabled hauling way is visible above the eaves. The west gable displays three boarded openings. Small brick buttresses are located between the bays on the ground floor. Remarkably, all original machinery within the mill remains in situ and is in working order.
