Description
Croft House is a large detached house, likely built in the early 18th century, with alterations in the 19th century and significant enlargement around 1966 to the north-west. The house is constructed of coursed and dressed stone with flush quoins and features a stone slate roof. It has stone end stacks on the south range and ridge stacks on the north-west.
The main front range is two storeys high with an attic and includes three windows featuring 12-pane sash designs set in flush stone surrounds. There are three gabled dormers along the eaves, each with twin casements and tile-hung gables and sides. The ground floor showcases two large late 19th-century canted bay windows, each with 8/12/12/8-pane sashes, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course. Originally, there may have been a door between the bays, which has since been removed. To the left side of the front range, there are two narrow 8-pane sash windows. The front also includes a round-headed doorway with plain fanlights, a recessed four-panel door, and an arched stone hood. The rear range features multi-pane 20th-century wood casements or mullion and transom windows.
