Description
The Bottle Barn at Lower Norcote Farm is a large barn, likely built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone and has a stone slate roof, which was being partially re-roofed at the time of the survey in June 1985.
On the south side, there are two large projecting gabled cart entries. Each entry features low-level openings with timber lintels and double doors. The left entry has a raking canopy supported by brackets and a small two-light window with a timber lintel above it. The right entry includes nine rows of dovecot holes and stone ledges in the gable. To the far left, there is a lean-to with a corrugated-iron roof.
Inside, the left side of the partition wall is partially obscured by machinery, but it has an opposed gabled cart entry with a high-level opening, a timber lintel, and recessed double timber doors. The right side also has a similar opposed opening and contains four bays, a renewed timber roof structure, a pitch hole to the east, and scattered square vents. The north side of the barn features lean-tos at the outer ends.
