Description
Slait Barn is a barn dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. The barn has a rectangular shape with a central two-storey porch on the south side and a single-storey porch on the north side.
On the north side, there is a central parapet-gabled porch that includes a large round-arched doorway with plank doors. Flanking the porch are two slit vents, one above the other, each with a pointed head. The ends of the barn are also parapet-gabled, featuring a small pigeon hole at the apex of the gable and a segmental-arched loft doorway below it, along with two slit vents positioned below the loft level.
The south side was not accessible during the inspection in July 1985 and is screened by trees. The interior was also not accessible. Overall, Slait Barn is a well-built and elegant 19th-century barn located in a remote area.
