Description

The Horse and Groom is an inn located in Bourton-on-the-Hill, with origins in the 18th century, along with extensions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features an ashlar limestone facade, with coursed squared and dressed limestone behind, and a roof made of limestone slate and concrete tiles.

The main part of the inn is two storeys high with an attic, which is illuminated by three dormers that have 20th-century two-light wood casements. The facade has three windows, all of which are 12-pane sashes, with three featuring wide glazing bars. Each window and door is framed with moulded architraves, and the windows have bull-nosed sills. There is a band running below the first-floor windows, and a blocked window is located on the lower left.

The inn has two doors: one is a four-panel door with a fanlight positioned off centre to the left, and the other is a two-panel door with its original fanlight off centre to the right. The 18th-century extension on the lower left has two windows, also 12-pane sashes with wide glazing bars, and a fielded six-panel door in a plain flush surround on the lower right. The main body of the building features flat gable coping and a moulded stone eaves cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
