Description

The gateposts to Rock Cottage date from the early to mid-19th century. They are tall gate piers made of ashlar stone, featuring moulded capping and decorative balls on top. The gateposts have recently been set further apart. The left-hand pier includes a recent slate tablet that is inscribed with "Joanna Southcott lived here 1804-1814."
