Description

Probably dating from the early 19th century, Chapel Cottage was likely originally the chapel for Rock Cottage. It appears to have been first converted into stables and subsequently into a dwelling. The cottage is constructed of rubble and has a modern asbestos slate roof. It features two cambered-head windows on the first floor, facing the road, and a timber lintel above the door, which is located within a lean-to on the right-hand side. Access is gained through a rendered gable end. The building is included on the list for historical reasons, as it is believed to be Joanna Southcott’s Chapel, and is linked to Rock Cottage.
