Description
No. 7 Market Place is a shop with a flat above, dating from the late 18th century. The front is made of limestone ashlar, while the rear features coursed squared limestone. The building has a stone slate hipped parapeted roof at the front and a combination of hipped and gabled stone slate roofs at the rear. There are rendered lateral stacks at the rear left and front right, along with a stone and brick stack at the right end of the rear.
The structure is wider at the rear, and the rear facade facing the churchyard is angled at two points. It stands three storeys tall with an attic and has a three-window range. The first floor has three 6/6-pane sash windows in plain reveals with stone cills, while the second floor features three 3/3-pane horned sash windows in similar reveals. The ground floor showcases a full-width shopfront from the mid to late 19th century, with two windows flanking a recessed glazed door. It has pilaster strips on either side and heavy carved console brackets supporting a frieze and a blind box in the cornice position.
There are two shallow-pitched gabled dormers with 2-light timber glazing-bar casements. A plat band runs over the first floor, and there is a moulded stone eaves cornice that returns to the right. The parapet on the right side ramps up to the stack. Additionally, there is a moulded lead hopper head and a short section of lead pipe located under the right return of the eaves cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
