Description
The stable block at Avening Court, located adjacent to the east end of the house, is the earliest part of the stables, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed from coursed and dressed rubble stone, featuring a Cotswold stone slate roof at the front (west) and a rubble stone and tile roof at the rear, along with a small lateral stone stack. The building is two stories high and has a central small pediment. There are two large flattened arch carriage entrances on the left and in the center, with a small lunette window below the pediment. To the right, there was originally a single door with a lunette window featuring intersecting tracery above, which has since been widened for a garage entrance. An iron weathercock is positioned on the roof. The range immediately to the rear is not of special interest.
