Description
Hilcot House, formerly two cottages, is now a single house likely dating from the mid 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with a stone slate roof and features three stone stacks. The building is a single range, single storey with an attic, and has two gables on the south side, with the larger gable on the left, which was formerly No 49. This gable has a blocked small rectangular apex light and a three-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould on both the first and ground floors. To the right, there is a two-light stone mullion window with a dripmould and a three-light window below it. A small 20th-century gabled porch is located to the left, featuring a new plank door and a timber lintel, along with a two-light casement window with a timber lintel to the far left. The original door to the right-hand cottage has been glazed and is recessed with a timber lintel. The rear of the building has two gables, each with a two-light stone mullion window; the back of the former No 49 has a square hoodmould and a small blocked rectangular light above it on the first floor. The rear of the former No 50 is finished in coursed rubble.
