Description

Church Cottage, formerly known as The Croft, is a detached house, now semi-detached, dating from the late 17th and early 18th centuries, with later 20th-century alterations. The house is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a slate roof. It has ashlar stacks, some of which have been repaired in brick, and a more recent stack built of artificial stone. The plan is rectangular, with a flat-roofed rear extension added in the 20th century, which is not considered to be of special interest. The house is two storeys and has an attic, which is lit by two gabled roof dormers. The symmetrical front facade has two windows, each with 2 or 3 lights, using stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods. A central front door, with six panels, is set within a flat-chamfered 'Tudor' arched surround. Gable-end stacks are present. The interior has not been inspected.
