Description
Hill Barn and the adjoining outbuildings date from the mid-19th century. They are constructed from limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins and feature a slate roof. The barn has a rectangular plan with a projecting porch on the east side. A three-sided courtyard is formed by open-fronted stores and stables on the west side of the barn. The barn includes a lean-to porch on the east and a gabled porch on the west, with lean-tos on either side. There is a pitching window in the south gable end and ventilation slits in the east wall.
At the north-west corner, there is a single-storey open-fronted store with five open bays divided by cast iron piers. The stables are located on the west side of the courtyard and are two storeys high, featuring a stable door at the centre of the ground floor with a keystone above it. Stone steps to the right lead up to the loft, and there are single light windows with stone jambs to the left of the door and to the right of the steps. The gable ends of the barn and stables have flat coping. Inside the barn, there are five bays with original collar and tie trusses, although the rafters were replaced in the 20th century.
