Description
Withy Trees Cottage is a detached house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is built of coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a roof made of stone slate and concrete tiles. The cottage has a rectangular plan and features a mid-18th century extension at the right gable end. There is also a 20th-century extension at the rear designed in a Cotswold style, which is not of special interest.
The cottage stands two storeys high with an attic, which is illuminated by single light, double-chamfered garret windows. The main facade has three windows, featuring two and three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods. The windows in the right-hand bay are from the 20th century. The mid-18th century extension is 1½ storeys tall and has two 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements on the ground floor. Above, a 20th-century half dormer is lit by a 2-light stone-mullioned casement.
The main body of the cottage has flat and stepped gable end coping with roll-cross saddles. There are twin axial stacks with moulded cappings, as well as a gable end stack on the mid-18th century extension. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
