Description

This is a detached house located approximately 10 meters west of Jasmine Cottage in Bibury, Arlington. It dates from the early to mid-17th century, with a 19th-century addition. The building is constructed of random rubble limestone, with some red brick, and features a brick rebuilt chimney. The roof is covered in plain tiles, while the outbuilding has a Welsh slate roof.

The house is two stories high and has outbuildings at the north-west and south-east ends. The south-west front has a two-window arrangement, with two-light recessed chamfered casements on the upper floor that have hoodmoulds and were previously in half gables. There is a central single stair light. On the ground floor, there are three-light recessed chamfered casements with hoodmoulds and relieving arches, with the left window partially altered to form a doorway that features a 19th-century four-panel door, while the right window has a lower sill. The central ridge-mounted chimney indicates that the roof pitch has been reduced, with brick added between the former gables.

To the north-west, there is an outbuilding that is now part of an adjoining property and was originally a stable with a loft. The single-storey outbuilding at the south-east end is from the 19th century and has a low-pitched gable, a central casement with a rendered lintel, and a doorway with a stone lintel and a four-panel door to the right. The interior of the house has not been inspected. Historically, this building was occupied by a blacksmith from the adjacent forge.
