Description

53 and 55 Dyer Street are two houses that have been converted into offices. They were built in the early 19th century and have undergone some alterations since then. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared limestone and have a Welsh slate roof, with rebuilt brick stacks at the ridge and right end.

The structure has three storeys and a cellar, featuring a four-window range. On the first floor, there are two 6/6-pane sash windows in plain reveals on the left, and two lengthened 6/6-pane sashes in plain reveals with stone cills on the right. The second floor contains four 3/3-pane sashes in plain reveals with stone cills. The ground floor has a similar 6/6-pane sash window to the centre left, and a triple sash window with a 2/2-6/6-2/2 configuration and timber mullions to the right.

The door for No. 53, located on the left, is a 20th-century six-panel door set in a round-headed beaded opening with a simple fanlight above. The door for No. 55, on the right, is a 19th-century six-panel door with a decorative overlight, accessed by four steps. A deep plinth features two openings with simple iron grilles beneath the ground floor windows, and there is a cill band on the first floor to the left, which has been removed to accommodate the window lengthening on the right. The interiors have not been inspected.
