Description

Three houses located on Dyer Street, Cirencester, dating from the early 19th century and now used as offices and commercial premises. The front of the building is stuccoed, while the rear is constructed of coursed limestone rubble. The roof has a shallow pitch, covered with Welsh slate on the left-hand side (at numbers 82 and 80), and a steeper pitch with artificial slate on the right-hand side (at numbers 80 and 78). A rebuilt brick ridge stack is situated at the point where the roof pitches change.

The building is a three-storey, four-window range. The first floor features three 8/8-pane sash windows in plain reveals with projecting cills on the right-hand side (numbers 78 and 80), and one 20th-century 8/8-pane tilting window in a similar reveal on the left-hand side (number 82). The second floor has three 4/8-pane sash windows in plain reveals on the right (numbers 78 and 80), along with one 20th-century 4/8-pane tilting window in a similar reveal on the left (number 82). The ground floor incorporates two 6-panel doors with simple overlights in plain reveals at the centre left (numbers 80 and 82), and one 8/8-pane sash window like those above (number 80). To the left is a 20th-century glazing within a small 19th-century timber shop window surround, which features pilaster strips on either side, a recessed frieze between simple brackets, and a moulded timber cornice (number 82). A small 20th-century plate glass shop front is located on the right-hand side (number 78). The building has a shallow plinth. A two-storey lean-to extension to the rear dates from the 19th century. The interior of the building was not inspected.
