Description
No. 35 in Hatherop Village is a former pair of cottages that have been converted into a single house. It dates from the mid to late 17th century and is built from random coursed rubble stone. The building features three ashlar stacks with moulded cornices and offsets. Originally, there were two end stacks with gables between them, and a third gable with an additional end stack was added to the right.
The structure is a single long range with one storey and an attic. The original doorways of the two cottages have been blocked, but the doorway on the left is still visible, showcasing a stone lintel and quoins. A new central projecting stone gabled porch has been added, featuring a boarded timber door. On either side of the porch are three-light stone mullion windows with square hoodmoulds. Each gable has a two-light stone mullion window, also with square hoodmoulds. All windows are fitted with single 19th-century iron casements at each light.
