Description

The listed buildings comprise two cottages at 56 and 58 Gloucester Street, Cirencester, dating from the early to mid-18th century. They are constructed of coursed squared limestone with a stone slate roof that is continuous with the adjacent building at number 60. A brick ridge stack is present. The cottages are two storeys and have an attic, and feature a two-window front. The first floor has two 19th-century two-light timber casement windows, each set beneath an exposed timber lintel. The ground floor has two similar windows and two 20th-century plank doors with glazed panels, also under exposed timber lintels. A 2-light casement within a gabled dormer is present on the right-hand side of number 56. The interiors were not inspected during the listing process. A 20th-century two-storey extension to the rear, which is continuous with number 60, effectively doubles the size of these cottages.
