Description
A row of five houses located at 12-20 New Church Street, Tetbury, built in the mid-18th century. The houses are constructed of coursed rubble stone with a Cotswold stone slate roof and stone stacks. Originally likely built as two pairs of houses and then No. 20 as a separate unit, the row has three different roof levels. There are two stacks for Nos. 12 and 14, a back-to-back stack for Nos. 16 and 18, and two end stacks for No. 20.
The houses are three storeys high and feature nine windows on each of the first and second floors, all with 12-pane sashes and wooden lintels, except for the windows on the second floor of No. 20, which have stone lintels. The ground floor windows comprise six openings and all have 16-pane sashes.
The doorcases vary slightly, but Nos. 12-18 share reeded pilaster strips. No. 12 has a pediment supported by small consoles, a six-panel door, and a semi-circular fanlight with interlaced tracery. No. 14 features a smaller pediment, double outer doors, and panelled inner doors, all half-glazed. No. 16 has large, plain capitals and a small flat doorhood, with a six-panel door. No. 18 has a reeded lintel and a six-panel door. No. 20 has a plain door recess with a stone lintel and half-glazed double doors.
