Description

A group of four chest tombs located in the churchyard approximately 15 meters south of the tower of the Church of St John the Baptist. These tombs date from the mid-18th century to the early 19th century and are made of limestone. The group includes one tomb with stylised foliage carving and a tall moulded capping, inscribed to Francis Sweet, who died in 1737; another with beaded panels and reeded pilaster strips, inscribed to John Tombes, who died in 1813; a third with plain recessed panels, inscribed to James Tombes, who died in 1798; and a fourth with carved borders to the panels, inscribed to James Tombes, who died in 1758.
