Description
This barn, located approximately 35 meters south of Cromwell House, dates back to 1785, as indicated by the initials 'E * R' and the date inscribed over the lintel of the double doorway on the south-west front. The structure is built from coursed limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins and features a roof made of stone slate and artificial stone slate. It has a rectangular plan with a projecting porch on the north-east side.
On the south-west front, there are double plank doors positioned off-centre to the right, accompanied by a timber lintel. To the right of the doors, there is a ventilation slit, with a pitching window above it. Wooden steps lead up to a plank door that provides access to the loft, located to the left of the main doorway. On the opposite side of the projecting porch, there are double doors that cover a blocked entrance. The gable ends of the barn also feature ventilation slits.
Inside, the barn consists of four bays and retains its original collar and tie beam trusses, although the rafters were replaced in the 20th century.
