Description

The range of farm buildings at Ebrington Hill Farm dates from the 19th century and forms two sides of a courtyard, with a brick wall making up the third side. The threshing barn features squared limestone on the outside and brick on the inside, topped with a limestone slate roof that has flat coping at the gable ends and roll saddles. The wash-house is constructed of squared limestone and limestone rubble, covered by a tile roof. There is also a store with a hayloft above, made of squared limestone and some brick, and it has a section of weatherboarding across the ground floor on the right. The byres are built of brick and have a limestone slate roof. The threshing barn and store are located to the right of the farmhouse, positioned at right angles to it, while the byre and cart shelter are opposite the farmhouse, attached to the store on the left and the brick wall on the right. This arrangement creates a square courtyard with buildings on three sides. The threshing barn has a former wash-house outshut attached on the left and features a projecting two-storey central gable, which includes a double doorway with a segmental brick head and a matching doorway in the rear wall. The store, which has a hayloft, was formerly open-fronted on the right and includes brick steps leading to the hayloft door, which has a pitching door. All doors are planked and fitted with strap hinges. The range opposite the farmhouse is symmetrical, comprising two small byres with plank doors at each end, flanking an open-fronted cart shelter. Inside the barn, there are three bays with 20th-century roof trusses, and the former wash-house retains a washing copper.
